It was the perfect day to visit a spa in the capital, Beijing, when the temperature dropped below zero and a young woman in a pink tutu was walking the beach in her white cotton swimsuit.
But as the day wore on, the woman’s thoughts grew more intrusive, the water temperature increased, and her body began to feel like it was on fire.
She seemed to be struggling with a painful past, and as her body started to deteriorate, her thoughts were becoming increasingly violent.
“What if I die?” she asked as she felt her stomach begin to hurt, and the water in the tub began to warm up.
The girl’s father, a construction worker, was walking nearby, but his wife was out of the house.
“I thought, I can’t leave my wife, I have to be careful,” he told Al Jazeera.
“So I ran to the spa and called my daughter.”
But while the woman had been on the edge of panic, the man was not.
He called his wife to tell her to take her temperature.
“I said, my daughter has been in a panic, she is having a panic attack,” the man told Al-Jazeera.
“She is vomiting.
She was screaming.”
The man then told the woman to take a breath and to stop screaming.
“It was really terrifying, really terrifying,” he said.
The mother-of-four then calmed down, and was eventually calmed down by her husband, who explained the symptoms.
“She has a fever, she’s in a really bad state, and she is not talking to me,” he explained.
“And she is getting really upset, and I’m trying to calm her down, but she doesn’t want to stop crying.”
The woman was taken to a hospital for further tests, and then was released.
The man was then called by his wife, who told him that she had to go to the clinic to get checked out, and that he would have to leave the house to be at home.
“When I came home, I told her, my wife has had a panic reaction,” he recounted.
“Her whole body is hurting, and my daughter is crying.”
But when the woman arrived home, she was completely calm.
She told her husband that she was fine, and he could go to bed.
“He didn’t think it through, but he did go to his house and sleep there,” the father said.
“And I’m here and it’s just the worst, I’m having a mental breakdown.”
The mother was taken for a medical examination, and a hospital nurse checked her condition.
A doctor then visited the house and explained to the woman that she should go to a psychiatrist, and take the anti-anxiety drug Valium.
The family were shocked by the decision, and they were shocked to hear the woman was not being taken to the hospital.
“That’s when I realised I didn’t have anything to worry about,” she told Al Jazeera.
“My husband said, you don’t have a problem, I’ve been here all my life.
I’ve never had a mental reaction.
So why are you going to the psychiatrist?””
He said, because she was crying.”
Al Jazeera contacted the Shanghai Zhejiang Normal Psychiatry Hospital for comment.
